What this covers
This policy explains what the Arkobus mobile app and this website collect, why, and what we do with it. It applies to Arkobus ("we", "us"), operating from Kathmandu, Nepal.
What we collect
Location: with your permission, your device location while you are searching or riding, so we can suggest nearby boarding points and count stops. Location is used for the current trip and is not sold.
Account details: your name, phone number, email address, date of birth, gender, the fare category you pick, and any places you save. An account is needed to use the app. The phone number and email identify it; date of birth and gender are only used in aggregate, to see who the network is serving.
Usage data: which screens are opened and which routes are searched, measured in aggregate through Google Analytics so we can see where the network map needs work.
Messages you send us: the name, email and text you submit through the contact form.
Access logs: the requests your app or browser makes to our servers, with the address they came from and when. These are kept to keep the service up and to spot scraping and other abuse, not to build a profile of you.
What we do not do
We do not sell personal data. We do not track you across other apps or websites for advertising. We do not run ads inside the route flow.
Third parties
Two services see some of this data. Google Maps draws the maps and route lines in the app. Google Analytics measures which screens and routes get used, in aggregate. Each receives only what it needs to do its job. Messages from the contact form go to us directly and are not passed to anyone else.
How long we keep it
Deleting an account is a request for now, not a button in the app: ask us through the contact form and we will erase it for you. Once that is done nothing is held back. The account and everything attached to it are gone, with no retention window and no backup copy kept afterwards. Messages you send through the contact form are kept while we work through them, and aggregate usage data has no identifiers left to delete. Access logs are kept for a short period for security and abuse detection, then discarded.
Your choices
You can revoke location permission at any time in your device settings; route search still works, you just have to type your starting point. To see what we hold, correct it, or have the account erased, ask us through the contact form.
Changes
If this policy changes materially we will note it in the app before the change takes effect.
